Hey there,
I got this unit for school in 2013, and barely used it. Ended up getting an ASUS unit while this sat in a closet since then.
The internal DVD drive had a failure that Dell refused to cover (one of their tech's screwed up the ribbon cable....). It has been removed.
As such, I've knocked the price down PLUS am throwing in a brand new Samsung External DVD Drive ($30 value). It's a really slim / light unit.
I just upgraded the harddrive to a BLAZING FAST! 240GB Kingston SSD w/ Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on it (OEM windows w/ legitimate key). $120 value on SSD / ~$100 value on Windows 7 Pro (free upgrade to win 10 on July 29th :D)!
Total Upgrades in system come to about $250. System, if bought new, is well north of $1800.
Spec's:
Processor: Core i7-4700MQ @ 2.40 GHz (8 blazing fast cores!)
RAM: 8GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 765M (Runs BF4 and other new titles pretty decently on medium settings. It IS a laptop though, so like all Alienware 14's... runs into thermal issues on some games).
Screen: 14in 1920x1080 anti-glare
Only issues with laptop are the odd mark on chassis (barely noticeable scratch on backing). As well as the lower left corner of screen has some LED bleed (bit brighter if the image on screen is very dark.... normal for LED screens...).
Battery Health (in Dell Diagnostic pre-boot) is @ 96% (basically new) and lasts a good long while.
Looking for $700 OBO. Mostly selling because I no longer need it. Price isn't super firm... but do keep in mind it's a top of the line unit :P Price is pretty low as is. Stock photography used... unit looks the same as the units on dell.com:
